Club Fair 2018

Ashley Phelan, Staff Writer

One of the most anticipated lunch periods of the fall, the club fair, just happened! A current sophomore, Brooke Borzymowski (’21) shared her thoughts with us about the club fair: “I love going to the club fair every year, so I can learn more about the ways to get involved at NDP.  Each time I walk by the signs in the foyer, I find something new that interests me, and, normally it’s something that I wouldn’t see myself doing!” Representatives from each of NDP’s amazing clubs and organizations come to the club fair to recruit new members. There are so many options, how can you only choose one? Well, guess what? You don’t! You can sign up for multiple as long as you have time to participate in them. Here are just a few in case you missed them at the fair…

  1. Language Clubs — French, Spanish, and Italian!

Some special activities include the Italian Club’s annual trip to NYC and the French Club’s Christmas party with Calvert Hall!

  1. Science/Technology related clubs — Women in Medicine, Environmental Club, STEAM, Architecture & Engineering, Forensics, STArs, Cyber Patriot, and Robotics.

These hands-on clubs give students an insight into careers that they might pursue in the future that relate to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

  1. Writing/Journalism Clubs — Creative Writing Club and Gateway Newspaper

Attend school functions, participate in fun activities, write about your experience, and publish it on the NDP Gateway newspaper!

  1. Organizations — WIN Program, PAW, SADD, FCA, One Love, Cultural Awareness
  2. Service Clubs — Rafiki, Club Umoja

Get involved with your community while helping out and having a great time!

  1. Creative Clubs — Ukeladies, Baking Club, Writing, Yearbook Club, Book Club, Sending Smiles, Blaze-Clefs.

The Ukeladies Club is a group of girls who get together throughout the year to have fun, make music, and improve their playing ability. The Blaze-Clefs is NDP’s first a-cappella group and they perform for the entire school during their concerts!

  1. Government/Public Speaking related Clubs — Youth and Government, Mock Trial, Model UN, Speech and Debate

Experience the thrill of the courtroom and take part in simulated activities that model real world problems.
