Baking is a perfect way to share how much you care about other people. There are so many different options for delicious treats which can really serve as the highlight of someone’s Valentine’s Day. This article is a short, comprehensive list of several different cupcake recipes, perfect for any Valentine’s Day gift.


Recipe One: Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Cupcakes



  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup of cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 cup of vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup of sour cream
  • 24 cupcake liners


  • 1 cup of sliced strawberries
  • ½ cup of vegetable shortening
  • ½ cup of butter
  • 4 cups of sifted confectioners’ sugar


  • 6 oz. of dark cocoa candy melts
  • 24 strawberries


Preparation Time: 1 hour

Cook Time: about 20 minutes

Additional Time: 2 hours and 40 minutes

Total Time: 4 hours

Yields: about 24 cupcakes



Step One: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Add cupcake liners to muffin pans.

Step Two: Combine flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.

Step Three: In a separate bowl, beat sugar and oil until combined. Then add in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after every addition. Once incorporated, add vanilla.

Step Four: Add the flour mixture alternatively with sour cream into the wet ingredient mixture until just combined. Fill each cupcake liner about halfway.

Step Five: Bake for 16-18 minutes. Allow the cupcakes to cool for five minutes in the pan before moving to a cooling grid.

Step Six: For the frosting, puree the strawberries. Strain the puree, discarding the seeds and solids.

Step Seven: Beat shortening and butter in a bowl until light and fluffy. Add in the powdered sugar one cup at a time until incorporated. The frosting should appear dry.

Step Eight: Add in the strawberry puree slowly. Beat until light and fluffy. Spread the frosting over the cupcakes.

Step Nine: For the chocolate-covered strawberries, melt the cocoa candy melts. Dip in the strawberries and allow to chill in the refrigerator on a piece of parchment paper.

Step Ten: Top the cupcakes with the chocolate-covered strawberries before serving.


Recipe Two: Angel Food Cupcakes with Fresh Berries and Whipped Cream


  • ½ cup of sifted cake flour
  • ¾ cup of granulated sugar
  • 5 egg whites
  • ½ teaspoon of cream of tartar
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 2 oz. of vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup of heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon of confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 cup of fresh berries


Preparation Time: about 20 minutes

Cook Time: 18-20 minutes

Additional Time: 5 minutes

Total Time: 45 minutes

Yields: 12 cupcakes



Step One: Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Add cupcake liners to a muffin tin.

Step Three: In a separate bowl, whip egg whites until foamy. Whip in cream of tartar and salt. Add in ½ cup of sugar, beating until soft peaks are formed. Add in vanilla.

Step Five: Bake for 18-20 minutes until the tops of the cupcakes are golden brown. Allow the cupcakes to cool in the pan for five minutes before removing them and allowing them to cool on a cooling grid.

Step Six: In a bowl, whip cream, confectioners’ sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form. Ice the tops of the cupcakes with this whipped cream mixture and garnish with fresh berries.


Recipe Three: Conversation Heart Cupcakes


  • 1 package of white cake mix
  • ½ cup of softened butter
  • ½ cup of shortening
  • 2 tablespoons of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 4 cups of confectioners’ sugar


Preparation Time: 45 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour and 5 minutes

Yields: 28 cupcakes



Step One: Preheat the ocean to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a muffin time with cupcake liners. Prepare the cake mix batter according to the package’s instructions. Place either a marble or a foil ball in each muffin cup (between the cupcake liner and the muffin pan) to create a heart shape.

Step Two: Fill the cupcake liners about halfway. Bake according to the package’s instructions. Allow the cupcakes to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing them to cool completely.

Step Three: To make the frosting, beat butter, shortening, milk, and vanilla in a bowl until smooth. Gradually beat in confectioners’ sugar. Frost the cupcakes and decorate them with Valentine’s Day messages.
