It’s about halfway through the year. Mid-terms are over, the first semester is now officially behind us, and we only have to survive about four more months until it is once again summer. But in all honesty, the summer months are too often idealized to be perfect, filled to the brim with places to go, and people to see. The reality? We spend a lot of time sitting around google searching things to do, and actually doing a whole lot of nothing. After one too many trips to the pool, you may find yourself battling the age old conundrum of how to spend summer vacation. Let’s reminisce on summer 2k14, shall we? Why summer 2k14, you may ask? Well, because last summer, on July 21, 2014, the first annual Alt Press Music Awards was hosted by Mark Hoppus, the bassist of Blink-182 at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame And Museum in Cleveland, Ohio. The show was opened by Brendon Urie of Panic! At the Disco performing both “Fly Me to the Moon” and “Luck Be a Lady” by Frank Sinatra. Other notable performances from the night include: “A Love Like War” performed by All Time Low featuring Vic Fuentes of Pierce the Veil, “If you Can’t Hang” performed by Sleeping With Sirens, and “Car Radio” performed by Twenty One Pilots. The “Best Live Band” award was presented to none other than Pierce the Veil, who ended up taking home a total of three awards that night. Brendon Urie took home the “Best Vocalist” award, the “Most Dedicated Fans” award was given to the band, Black Veil Bands. Fall Out Boy won the “Artist of the Year” award, and closed the show by performing their song, “The Phoenix,” off their 2013 album Save Rock and Roll.

Though it is too early to know the nominees, Alt Press has released that Jack Barakat and Alex Gaskarth from All time Low will be hosting the 2015 Alt Press Music Awards, again at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame And Museum.
