The end of the 2026 school year, amongst its excitement of new journeys and summer plans, brings a bittersweet end here at the Gateway as co-editors Taylor and Mia graduate and enter their next chapter.

Taylor: In the middle of the COVID pandemic, I made a huge life switch. I became a seventh grader at NDP, where I knew no one. The transition was stressful, but I cannot be more grateful that this place is where I spent the last six years of my life.  

Since the beginning of my education, grades and academic success have been extremely important to me. I was always striving for the best grades and merit achievements. NDP challenged me, forced me to grow not just academically but also socially, mentally, and physically. Not only that, but the community here has quite literally been my saving grace in times of personal loss.  

I have found friendships with 170 amazing girls, who are bonded through tears, sacrifice, accomplishments, and our colors of blue and orange. It is no secret that we have lost people close to us, especially this year, but the way we came together as a sisterhood emphasizes this unbreakable bond.  

NDP has changed me. I am more confident, stronger in my faith, a better violinist, and more deeply rooted in my beliefs. The teachers have instilled knowledge and fun into every day. While some days may not have been the most enjoyable, and I did not want to get out of bed at six am every morning, I would not change it for the world.  

I am so honored to be a part of this amazing club. To spread news and laughter across the campus. I will miss everyone dearly.  

From Gym Meet to Christmas liturgy, the traditions that our school is founded on, this place will always be in my memory and in my heart.

Mia: While this is only my second year here at the Gateway, I will forever cherish the memories I made. I joined the club in my junior year and instantly fell in love. Soon, I decided that I wanted to have a greater role with the club and nervously submitted my application to be a Co-editor. I am so grateful that I was awarded the position, and I can honestly say that I loved every minute. From decorating the club bulletin board to the early morning meetings, I truly felt the love and community of the Gateway. The club has let me grow as both a writer and a person, and I am so excited for Evelyn and Johanna as they take this new journey.
