This year Gym Meet 2025 was a spectacular success for all the grades with many twists and turns of excitement, and much hard work on the parts of students and faculty. The Class of ‘28 theme was, “Fresh out of the ‘80s” and they all wowed us with their dance party! The Class of blue and green theme was, “Sophomore’s Set Sail” and everything from their aerobics to songs were outstanding! The Juniors theme was, “’26 League of Our Own,” and they took to the mound with lots of energy and excitement. Lastly, the senior class theme was, “Seniors Haunt Hampton Lane,” and they truly embodied the spookiness and made some lasting memories.
It was a very close competition, as it often is. The Juniors won plaques in both March and Aerobics, but all in all the Seniors came out victorious with the Silver Cup and plaques in Dance and Song, (and poster)! The freshman had a total of 410 points, the sophomores got 457 points, the juniors earned 517 points, and the seniors had a whopping 549 points! Despite points, plaques, and silver cups, the true spirit of Gym Meet is called to be remembered.
Gym Meet season is a time that one feels close with their sisters like no other. The Seniors experienced their last Gym Meet and many have remarked on the sadness that twinged it, knowing they would never participate in it again. They had a special liturgy on Saturday before the arrival of the other grades, which was very meaningful and only further grew their bond and respect for each other as a class. They were reminded by their Gym Meet Captain, Lucy L. ’25, the call that Sister Patricia asks each of us to answer, to, “win with grace, and lose with grace”. That truly embodies the spirit of Gym Meet. Lucy, the senior class captain, was not the only captain who embodied grace and leadership. The freshman, sophomore, and junior gym meet captains, Carolina R., Carley C., and Bethany C., (respectively), also did a phenomenal job and their examples of hard work and dedication were truly remarkable. Some other notable leaders were the Gym Meet Manager: Kate W. ’25, Gym Meet Assistant Manager: Ava L. ’26, and AA President: Molly B. ’25. The grace and leadership these young women showed throughout the whole endeavor was exemplary and we thank them for that!
Although tensions may run high as the competition levels do this time of year, there truly is no other time of such great bonding with your sisters than Gym Meet. Thank you to everyone who participated and worked hard to contribute to this special tradition and your class’s performance. As a senior who will never get to participate again in Gym Meet, I personally will always cherish the memories from the countless practices, and the special nights of the performances.
