Foundation Day 2019

Caroline Wilking, Staff Writer

On Friday, October 21, Notre Dame Prep students, faculty, and alumnae gathered to celebrate our 186th Foundation Day. Each year, we celebrate the creation of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, who are devoted to assisting those in need and educating girls around the world.

The NDP class of 1969 celebrated their 50th anniversary this year and processed into the auditorium with their bright teal and green banner flying high. As current students watched this exciting tradition, the joyful smiles of the class of ’69 were infectious and all could feel the bond of sisterhood that has held strong for so many years.

This year’s beautiful liturgy included many amazing moments. NDP’s liturgy band, lead by Mrs. Bilenki, blessed us with wonderful music throughout the mass to help us celebrate, and chamber choir’s closing song, “God’s Call,” was a perfect end to the liturgy. The mass was truly a wonderful element of this year’s Foundation Day.

It is always delightful to celebrate the School Sisters of Notre Dame and Notre Dame Prep’s history together as a community. We look forward to many more Foundation Days in the years to come!
