Day in the Life of a Freshman

Katie Lorenz, Staff Writer

As a freshman, life can be overwhelming at the beginning of the school year. You are still figuring out where your classes are and what your teachers are like. Once your routine is down, it will seem much more manageable.

It is a good idea to start in the mornings by giving yourself enough time to get ready when you wake up. You will not feel as rushed when you have more time. Make sure you check in and get your name tag at the beginning of the day. If you are going to go to your locker during the day, you do not need to make sure you have your books for all of your classes, just the ones far away from your locker or before lunch, when you will have time to switch books. When I am in my classes, I make sure to write down which materials I need to take home so that I don’t forget any books for homework that night. Keeping all of your homework written down in one place, such as OneNote, helps you to not forget homework from a class, or long-term assignments. During the day, frees are convenient for getting ahead on homework to have more time at home. At the end of the day, make sure to check out before leaving.

At home, when I am doing homework for the next day, I run through my schedule and remember what we are studying. This helps me remember if I have done the homework, or if I need to bring shoes for gym. It will be less likely to forget anything you need for the next day. Remember, freshman year is fun and a time to get used to NDP. Following your own schedule is what will help you the most.
