Once we get back from Christmas break, there is one thing on our mind. Exams. Our Exams this year are Tuesday the 20th to Thursday the 22nd, and the makeup day is on Friday the 23rd. The question is, do YOU know how to study?  Whether you are a spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, or logistical learner, there are many unique ways to studying!

The first easy way to study is using flash cards. Although don’t use boring old flashcards; studies suggest that if you use color, it will help you understand the information better! For example, make each category a different color, and you can even distinguish a card in a category with a sticker!

Did you know listening to music can help? I know there are some people who can’t listen to music, but studies have shown that when listening to music, especially Mozart (it helps the brain cells) it can help you learn the information faster! Even singing songs about the information you are trying to learn will help you. Whether it’s the Hannah Montana Bone Dance or a song you make up, you will be sure to learn the information in a fun way, and fast too!

Did you know a change of scene is a great way to make studying interesting? Our brain gets tired of the same old studying place! It is still important to choose a place with few distractions, such as the library instead of a loud coffee shop. You could even meet a friend and study in a group if that way of studying works for you! A great way is teaching each other and having mini lectures and academic discussions!

Some other ways to study are to use quizlet, create a poster, rewrite your notes, make up mnemonics, using diagrams, or try interactive learning materials online! There are so many fun options to choose that can make studying for exams a little more bearable! Remember to study in bits and to treat and reward yourself! Remember you can do this! I hope these tips helped and good luck on exams!
