The Not-Long Enough Ride

The Not-Long Enough Ride

North Carolina? Cowboys? Romance? What isn’t there to love? That’s what I thought about The Longest Ride, but then I saw Nicholas Sparks’ name at the end of the trailer, and I became very suspicious of whether I would enjoy the movie since I tend not to like his movies. But I went anyway to give it a chance since the trailer made it look like an awesome movie. Luckily for me, the movie lived up to the hype, and I ended up really liking it.

The movie is about one couple (played by Britt Robertson and Scott Eastwood) and their relationship with an elderly man (Alan Alda) that they saved from a car wreck. The movie intertwines the present day relationship of the couple, Luke and Sophia, and the flashbacks of the elderly man’s, Ira (younger version played by Jack Huston), relationship with his wife, Ruth (Oona Chaplin). The movie’s unconventional format of the interlaced stories brings a new spin on the typical romance movie. I liked the uniqueness of the movie and the amazing performance by all of the actors. If you enjoy a good romance movie, then I would definitely recommend The Longest Ride. Nicholas Sparks, good job this time.
