NDP is well-known for being a college preparatory school. Thus, the school has provided students with many opportunities to explore what colleges they’re interested in and what careers they might want to pursue. One of these amazing opportunities includes the Mini College Fair series, with four fairs in total hosted by our Counseling Department.

All the fairs will take place this fall. The first two fairs were on September 15 and September 29. The event has taken place outside in the Kirby courtyard from 3:30 to 5:00, and this time period in the afternoon allows for all students, especially athletes with after-school practice, to attend these fairs. The last two fairs will take place on October 14 and October 25.

At the fairs, NDP students were able to meet with representatives from various colleges around Maryland and all along the East Coast. Some schools that were represented at the first session were the University of Tennessee, UMBC, and the United States Naval Academy. Likewise, schools from the second session included Notre Dame of Maryland University, Rochester Institute of Technology, and The Catholic University of Maryland.

Representatives from each of the colleges explained their school’s application process, gave NDP students cool merchandise and informational flyers, and answered any questions. These fairs gave students a chance to look at prospective colleges and majors, gain access to resources, and obtain important contact information from these schools’ representatives. Overall, the NDP students were able to learn more about what they’re interested in studying and where they want to go in order to do so. It was a wonderful experience!

With two successful college fairs so far, I think it’s safe to say that the next two will be just as great. Talk to your college counselor if you have any questions, and make sure to check out the last two Mini College Fairs this October!
