During the pandemic, small businesses have been struggling, so shopping local is more important than ever! Many businesses have temporarily closed their doors, and others have unfortunately shut down completely. Below, I have compiled a list of various local small businesses that I encourage you to support moving forward.

Produce:

  • Farmer’s Daughter, Hydes, MD – small roadside produce stand selling everything from eggs to firewood to jams to hot chocolate bombs.
  • Wishing Star Farm & Wellness, Glen Arm, MD – another small roadside produce stand; additionally, the farm hosts socially distanced yoga, holiday markets, and more.
  • Richardson Farms, White Marsh, MD – a market with a deli, greenhouse, fresh produce, poultry, meats, and more.

Restaurants and Ice Cream:

  • Prigel Family Creamery, Glen Arm, MD (also a Belvedere Square location!) – family-owned creamery, food truck, and café.
  • Broom’s Bloom Dairy, Bel Air, MD – ice cream made on-site, local produce, honey, meats, and more.

Clothing and Boutiques:

  • Bead Wear Jewelry Boutique, Towson, MD – small local shop (currently online-only) selling handcrafted jewelry, soaps, perfumes, and more.
  • Esprit de Couture, Baltimore, MD – non-profit boutique selling secondhand items under $20, all proceeds benefit veterans.
  • Nalu Moon – NDP student-owned online boutique retailing apparel, jewelry, and stickers.
