Summer is coming quicker than you think so here are 10 fun things to do!

Firstly, make a bucket list!

This is a classic idea but a very handy one. This will help you plan out your summer and visualize what you want to do. It will make it easier to get everything done if you write it down, so then you can plan with your friends and have the best summer ever!

Make a summer playlist!

In my opinion, this one is definitely a necessity. No matter what you are doing good background music will make it a lot more fun. I find this to be really helpful especially when you want to get hype during the summer. It makes it easier and quicker to find a good upbeat song, so you don’t have to spend forever looking for it or trying to remember the name.

Go hiking!

Summer is the perfect time to be out and about in nature, plus you could learn a lot about yourself and the environment. My personal favorite place to hike is Oregon Ridge, which also has a cool learning center with some live animals!

Get your driving hours in!

This one definitely sounds boring, but summer is a great time to get your hours in since you don’t have school. You will thank yourself by the end of the year because you won’t have to worry about it after summer!

Go biking!

Whether it’s on a trail, around your neighborhood, or at the beach, biking is a great way to get some exercise in and have fun! Playing some music and observing the scenery always makes this activity super fun and relaxing.

Have a library day!

This might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I thoroughly enjoy the library. Libraries plan a variety of events so even if reading isn’t your thing, you could find something more suited to your taste. Overall, the library is a super calming place to relax no matter what you’re into.

Plant a native plant!

Not only is planting a native plant good for the environment, but it’s also good for you too! It is proven that touching dirt can increase your serotonin levels which in turn makes you feel happier! Native plants require less water and no fertilizer. They also help reduce air pollution and produce shelter for wildlife. It’s a win-win!

Pick up a new hobby!

This could be a range of things but here are some ideas, crocheting, playing a new instrument, reading, writing, singing, running, drawing, embroidering, cross-stitching, knitting, sewing, gardening, cooking, baking, making jewelry, and more! Picking up a new hobby, especially in the summer, is a great idea because it keeps you busy and, depending on the hobby, you could become really good at it with all the practice time you have in summer.

Check in with others!

Visit or call your grandparents, they will definitely be grateful for the time you took to check in on them. Or send a text to a friend you lost touch with or haven’t talked to in a while, I’m sure they will appreciate it, and this could rekindle a new friendship!

Lastly self-care!

Summer is the perfect time for self-care because of all the extra time you will have. Anything can be self-care, relaxing, skincare, journaling, taking a bath or shower, sleeping, or even eating your favorite meal. Take time this summer to check in mentally and physically with yourself and let yourself relax!

Remember to have fun, be awesome, and do what makes YOU happy!
