Coming this Fall and Winter to a Cinema Near YOU…

Attention movie fans! Grab some popcorn and get ready to purchase your tickets for some of this year’s most-anticipated films. While there are bound to be many incredible movies released before the end of the year, two in particular are sure to draw lots of attention.

After the enormous success of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the first part of Mockingjay is widely looked forward to. Catching Fire topped the charts as once more Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, and others turned in amazing performances. Fans of the books are curious to see just how this final book will be interpreted on the big screen. Though the book itself was somewhat controversial due to what many saw as a “weak ending,” it will be exciting to witness the movie take on it.

Sadly, the actor playing Plutarch Heavensbee (Phillip Seymour) passed away in February of this year, in the middle of filming. He will still appear in the movie for the scenes that he shot. And for the scenes that had not yet been filmed at the time of his death, he will be “recreated” via CGI technology. It will certainly be fascinating to see how Hollywood is able to use this technology to recreate an actor who, unfortunately, is no longer living and able to film.

Based on the trailer, it can be assumed that a major part of the plot will be dedicated to Katniss trying to rescue Peeta. She has also come under the wings of the rebellion group and has agreed to be their “mockingjay.” The people of Panem are inspired by her bravery and refusal to give in to the corrupt Capitol and President Snow. She does, however, threaten to leave this group if Peeta is not rescued. Will she be able to free him from the grips of the Capitol? What will become of Panem’s mockingjay?

Another popular flick to watch for is the third and final movie in the Hobbit Series. After some debate, it was titled The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. In this movie, Bilbo Baggins will finally complete his adventure with Gandalf and the dwarves. They will face a war to prevent Smaug the dragon from taking over Middle Earth. It is sure to prove an exhilarating and action-packed film to wrap up the Hobbit series.

With the conclusion, Warner Bros is hoping to score a hit that reaches the $300 million mark. This could be challenging though, considering it will debut on December 17th and will be competing with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, Into the Woods, and other movies that are expected to be quite popular. The Hobbit films have not met with the same success that The Lord of the Rings movies did, so it will be interesting to observe whether the final installment brings in the greatest revenue. It is possible that with the large media campaign Warner Bros is creating, enough excitement will be whipped up to make it a success.

No matter which films you choose to go see, this fall and winter will definitely be a great time for theater-goers!
