Sunday in the Country

Amy Nolan, Writer

This past Sunday was a big day for many country music fans. Merriweather Post Pavilion hosted the annual Sunday in the Country music festival. This concert is a popular event to attend whether you are a country music fan or not. People of all ages come together to sit and listen to the amazing performances. Craig Campbell started off the festivities followed by Jana Kramer, Justin Moore, David Nail, and Thompson Square. Eric Church performed last, wrapping up the night.

The musicians were all exceptional, but the one that stood out the most, in my opinion, was Jana Kramer. Kramer is a new face to the country music world, but she is growing more and more popular ever since her self-titled album came out in June. She is widely known for her role in the former hit series, One Tree Hill, as Alex Dupre. Since the show ended she has stepped out of the television spotlight and onto the stage. The young country singer is sure to stir up a lot more attention, as she leaves listeners wanting more.

The last to perform was Eric Church. Church is a well known musician, but sadly his performance didn’t meet the expectations of the viewers. He sang his songs efficiently and with great talent, as always. However, his performance seemed to end suddenly, leaving people disappointed, asking the question, “Is that it?”  Even so, the warm, sunny day was filled with laughs, great music, and memories shared with friends.
