JV Field Hockey

At NDP, the amount of activities you can be involved in are endless.  You can play a sport, join a club, or become a member of the various honor societies.  This fall, I tried out for field hockey, and it’s been a great decision.

Tryouts were held the week before school, and lots of girls showed up.  After a week of fun but intense tryouts, the varsity and JV teams were decided, and I happened to make JV as a goalie!

Being JV, we practice almost every day from 3:15-5:30, with the exception of game days.  JV games are typically started at 5:30 and go till 6:30.  They go kind of late, and sometimes homework is done late at night, but the experience is awesome, and it’s fun to bond as a team while waiting to play after varsity.

So far this season, we’ve won all but one of our games.  The team’s intensity and love for the game have led us to our victories, and even through our loss, we played our best.  We have had games where we’re not playing 100%, but we always fix our mistakes at practice the next day!

Overall, I’d say that playing for NDP’s JV field hockey team has been a memorable experience.  Sometimes the late nights and the weariness after practice can be difficult to deal with, but being a part of this team has made it all worth it.  I am very pleased with how we’ve played so far, and I hope we continue the season with as much passion and excitement that we’ve played with so far!
