As this summer comes to an end, and the season of chai lattes and cozy sweaters begins, many of us find ourselves looking back at the amazing summer we blazers had! We went to summer camps, read immersive books, and got a break from the stressful aspects of school life. This past June, lots of students also took a trip up to Italy! The trip was composed of visits to Assisi, Florence, Rome, The Vatican City, San Gimignano, and Venice.
During their trip to Rome and the Vatican City, the students were able to have an audience with Pope Leo XIV and meet The School Sisters of Notre Dame! The travelers were also able to learn more about church architecture through visits to The Trevi Fountain, The Pantheon, St. Peter’s Basilica, The Sistine Chapel, Vatican Museum, and the Raphael Rooms. They were also able to learn about numerous types of Roman architecture when they visited The Pantheon, The Roman Forum, The Colosseum, and Palatine Hill.
The students also took a walking tour of Assisi, where they saw The Piazza del Comune, Temple of Minerva, Chiesa Nuova, Basilica of St. Francis and the Basilica of St. Clare. On their trip, they visited the remarkably well-preserved body of Blessed Carlo and saw the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli- the site where St. Francis was converted.
It seems like the girls had an amazing time exploring Italy. Big shoutout to the religion department for making this trip happen!
