With the school year ending soon, NDP’s spring sports have reached their peak, as girls enjoy the last moments of competition before summer break. Not just this season, but all year, our Blazers have worked hard and competed with some of the best schools in the area. From victories on the field and PRs on the track, it is only right to reflect on the achievements these girls have had this spring!
Starting with lacrosse, with 20 graduating seniors, varsity has over a 50% winning percentage so far this season. They have beaten teams like John Carroll, Roland Park, and St. Mary’s. The girls also played in the St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School Spring Fling Tournament against two Virginia teams! Be sure to come out to Senior Night on Monday, the 28th, against Severn! JV and Fresh/Soph lacrosse both have 50% or higher win percentages as well! JV has beaten St. Paul’s, McDonough, and Roland Park, and F/S beat John Carroll and Spalding.
Varsity Golf and Badminton are having remarkable seasons, too! The golf team is undefeated after beating Catholic High and St. Vincent, and badminton has only lost to St. Paul’s and Garrison Forest out of their 8 total games.
Varsity Softball is undefeated in league play this year! Their only losses were to Spalding and Mount de Sales, but they bounced back, defeating Mount Carmel and St. John’s by over 10, and Maryvale 22-6 just the next week! The girls also played in the Glen Bernie Tournament just last weekend!
Finally, last but not least, it is time to run over to Mr. Lancaster, Mrs. Sheetz, and the track team! So far this season, the girls have competed against Spalding, Mount de Sales, Bryn Mawr, and Maryvale in IAAM Meets, as well as IAAM Relays and the Red, White, and Blue Classic at Francis Scott Key High School. Many of the runners were also invited to the Under Armour Black and Blue Invitational 2025 at Johns Hopkins University Track and Field Stadium. A special shoutout to Lucy Myers and Hannah Koontz for placing 8th and 16th in the 1600-meter finals! The team will compete in the IAAM Championships at McDonough and Spalding on Wednesday, May 7th, and Saturday, May 10th.
This season, the NDP athletes embodied the spirit of teamwork and perseverance as they continue to balance being a student athlete on and off the field. The passion of these athletes truly makes for exciting games and races all season!
