Losing friends is like losing coins.
Some you notice immediately;
And others you never seem to miss;
And even more were never yours to keep.
Some are jarred from your hands;
And others you give away;
And even more slip quietly away
From that unmended hole in your pocket.
Some are pennies,
Who cost more to make
And are worth less to keep,
Weighing you down with their overabundance;
Others are dollar coins,
Hard to find
But easy to hoard,
Having a rare quality that in all others seems to be extinct;
However,
Since losing friends is like losing coins,
How much more so is finding friends like finding coins:
An unexpected omen of good luck.
So save them carefully.
And treasure them dearly.
Save them for a day you will really need them.
