The Blazer Field Hockey team had an outstanding win against Garrison Forest at Archbishop Spalding. Winning 3-1, the Blazers clinched their second consecutive IAAM A Conference Championship title. In the words of Jenna Klaers, “There’s just nothing better than winning a championship for your team and for your school.”

The Garrison Forest Grizzlies scored early in the game, taking a 1-0 lead. The Blazers recovered quickly, however, with a goal scored by Julia Kraft to tie the game 1-1 at halftime. “[The Blazers] [t]otally pulled themselves together in the second half of the game. The girls got way more aggressive, yet still had amazing skill work going on. They worked together and used each other to win the game,” said spectator and student Grace Hayden. This proved to be true when seniors Nathalie Friedman and Rachel Borzymowski scored the next two unanswered goals in the second half, securing the 3-1 lead.

“Being able to come back from losing was the best moment,” said junior player Grace Larney. The Blazers hope to continue their close to perfect record of 20-1 (their only loss being to Arundel this past season) and use this momentum to come out strong in the 2019 season.
