We Were Liars Review

Meg Zink, Co-Editor

Have you ever read a book that feels like you are waiting in line? Like just waiting to get to the front of the line? Well, if you like the feeling of waiting in line, then I suggest E. Lockhart’s book We Were Liars. Recently, this book won a 2014 Goodreads Choice Award for best book in Young Adult Fiction.

We Were Liars is about four kids who are a part of a very wealthy family who owns a private island off the coast of New England. The book is told from the eldest grandchild and the heiress to the family fortune, Cadence. At the beginning of the book, Cadence has memory issues and headaches that stem from an accident that has occurred on the island. When she goes to the island for the summer, she tries to piece back what has happened during the accident of which she has no recollection.

This book has everything: romance, Intrigue, and Mystery. It’s a quick read with a twist ending.
